CVMA® RIDING AWARDS

Sarasota CVMA Chapter 20-8

PRE-RIDING REQUIREMENTS

Bike Inspection: Conduct a thorough check to avoid trouble. Here’s what you need to inspect:

  • Tires: Check tread depth, pressure, and look for cracks or other damage.
  • Brakes: Inspect pad wear and test lever/pedal firmness—nothing should feel spongy or make odd noises.
  • Fluids: Check motor oil, brake fluid, and coolant. Most manufacturers advise checking oil on a level bike, warm engine, and after a brief cooldown.
  • Suspension: Look for leaks or strange sounds. If anything’s off, let a repair shop handle it.
  • Nuts & Bolts: Ensure everything is snug and secure.

Prepare for Unpredictable Weather:  Florida has unpredictable weather, and being prepared is crucial.

  • check the weather forecast before each ride and dress accordingly.
  • Keep a set of rain gear on hand for unexpected downpours.
  • Riding in adverse weather demands extra caution, so be prepared to adjust your speed and maintain a safe following distance.

DISTINGUISHED RIDERS PROGRAM

The Distinguished Rider Program (DRP) has been developed to serve important functions at the chapter level. That is to serve as an incentive program to encourage CVMA® members to participate in their chapter rides and events. Riding and camaraderie are founding principles of successful and enjoyable CVMA® chapters. The Distinguished Rider patch is in the shape of a hexagon and is 2.5 inches wide and 3.25 inches tall. It has a grey background and black border. The center of the patch contains a vertical two-lane road. Beneath the CVMA® skull in the center of the patch is a motorcycle wheel and tire surrounded by a gold wreath. The words “DISTINGUISHED RIDER” are contained at the top of the patch. The patch is awarded for the completion of 2500 miles ridden.
